Effects of Pixel Density on Softcopy Image Interpretability

چکیده
Softcopy viewing systems have been used to display aerial imagery for over 20 years. CRT technology has dominated the market. However, imagery viewing requirements have not been a dominant force in the marketplace. The entertainment industry, the pre-press market, and office automation have generally been responsible for technology advances. More recently, the medical imaging community has helped to drive improvements in CRT technology. Among these improvements are ultra-high resolution monochrome monitors. In the past ten years, displays have moved from 512 by 512 pixel addressability at 50 pixels per inch (ppi) to 1200 by 1680 pixel addressability (100 ppi). In the past two years, displays with addressabilities of 2000 by 2560 (170 ppi) have come on the market. Although these five mega-pixel displays provide more data at higher resolution, there is a question as to how much of the data can be resolved by the human visual system. To address the benefits of improved CRT resolution, 100 and 170 ppi monitors were compared at varying magnification levels (and thus effective resolutions). Trained image analysts viewed imagery on the monitors and provided National Imagery Interpretability Rating Scale (NIIRS) ratings. They also viewed Briggs targets (checkerboard patterns at varying contrast and resolution levels) and provided ratings. Results indicate that interpretability is optimized at pixel densities on the order of 70-80 ppi.

Data Hiding Method Based on Graph Coloring and Pixel Block‘s Correlation in Color Image
An optimized method for data hiding into a digital color image in spatial domainis provided. The graph coloring theory with different color numbers is applied. To enhance thesecurity of this method, block correlations method in an image is used. Experimental results showthat with the same PSNR, the capacity is improved by %8, and also security has increased in themethod compared with other meth...
متن کاملOn the Pixel Expansion of Hypergraph Access Structures in Visual Cryptography Schemes
In a visual cryptography scheme, a secret image is encoded into n shares, in the form of transparencies. The shares are then distributed to n participants. Qualified subsets of participants can recover the secret image by superimposing their transparencies, but non-qualified subsets of participants have no information about the secret image. Pixel expansion, which represents the number of subpi...
متن کاملA Convolutional Neural Network based on Adaptive Pooling for Classification of Noisy Images
Convolutional neural network is one of the effective methods for classifying images that performs learning using convolutional, pooling and fully-connected layers. All kinds of noise disrupt the operation of this network. Noise images reduce classification accuracy and increase convolutional neural network training time. Noise is an unwanted signal that destroys the original signal. Noise chang...
متن کاملImage Stitching of the Computed Radiology images Using a Pixel-Based Approach
In this paper, a method for automatic stitching of radiology images based on pixel features has been presented. In this method, according to the smooth texture of radiological images and in order to increase the number of the extracted features after quality enhancement of initial radiology images, 45 degree isotropic mask is applied to each radiology image to observe the image details. After t...
